Series Recap: Halo, goodbye, Yankees sweep Angels
If you're wondering why New York is now only the fourth most populous state in the union, it's because half of upstate now lives at Angel Stadium. While the Yankees always play well at home and against the Minnesota Twins, sweeping the Los Angeles Angels on the road more than validated their hot streak. Extending their win streak to nine consecutive games, the Yankees pitching kept rolling and a Gary Sanchez blast in the finale sent them on their merry way again.
GAME 1
This game had it all and a pair of the Yanks best players rolling at a high level. Luis Severino was brilliant on the bump and Didi Gregorius brought down the house, earning a curtain call in a 4-3 win. Not even a questionable double play call on a tag play at second base or a bunch of "look what found" catches by Kole Calhoun could thwart the Bronx Bombers.
STALWART SEVY
Severino went seven strong and fanned eight for New York. A solo home run by Shohei Ohtani in the second inning and a wild pitch prior to an Andrelton Simmons two-run triple in the seventh were the only sore spots in an otherwise solid outing.
1010 WINS
After the Yankees rallied back to tie the game in the ninth on a Brent Gardner sac fly, Gregorius came through in the clutch in the tenth. The stud shortstop smacked his tenth home run of the season off Blake Parker and gave the Yankees a 4-3 lead. It was another big moment for Sir Clutch.

GAME 2
In the second game, the Yankees batted around and around in the first two frames, jumping out to a 10-0 advantage in an 11-1 win.

MERRI-GO-RUNS
The Yankees first inning offense was bolstered by a pair of doubles by Sanchez and Miguel Andujar and shoddy Angels defense. A two-run triple by Aaron Hicks, busted things open in the second.
Aaron Judge also busted out a big three-hit performance.
MASA MAGIC
Other than an obligatory home run to Zack Cozart, when the game was all but over in the fifth, Masahiro Tanaka was cruising. Tanaka fanned nine across six solid frames and only yielded a pair of hits.
GAME 3
After winning a laugher, the Yankees were able to win another close contest and held on for a 2-1 victory.
SANCHEZ SLUGS
An El Gary jack in the box, allowed the Yankees to get in-and-out of L.A. with a sweep. Sanchez's two-run tater in the fourth was the difference maker.

SABATHIA SOLID
CC Sabathia keeps getting stronger and stronger. This year in L.A., the big man didn't have to worry about Chris Carter playing first base with his eyes closed and he stayed healthy and effective. Sabathia only allowed one-run in seven strong, fanning four.
ON DECK
At 18-9, the Yankees travel to Houston for a rematch of the 2017 ALCS against the Astros in a four-game series.
Pitching probables, Sonny Gray vs. Charlie Morton, Jordan Montgomery vs. Justin Verlander, Luis Severino vs. Dallas Keuchel, Masahiro Tanaka vs. Lance McCullers Jr.
