When the #Yankees win, we Tweet Like Didi
Throughout the first three months of the 2017 season, as the season inches closer to the All Star Break, the Yankees still sit at the top of their division in their “rebuilding year”. Last season brought about the beginning of the “Baby Bombers” youth movement, and with the new influx of young talent, the Yankees have found early success and it is translating into an exciting product on the field. Despite their recent June struggles, the Yanks got back in the win column Monday night. Behind a dominant performance from rookie left hander Jordan Montgomery and some small-ball manufactured runs, the Yanks closed out a 6-5 win and for those Yankee fans that follow the team closely know a Yankees win means a Didi Tweet. One major part of this new, fun brand of Yankees baseball is shortstop Didi Gregorius interacting with the fans through his emoji-based tweets recapping each win while assigning an emoji for each of his teammates.

Some are obvious, some require a slight explanation, but all of them show Didi being the ultimate teammate he has proven to be since arriving in the Bronx in 2015. Didi praises all of his teammates for their contributions to the win, and never includes himself even though he has undoubtedly been a premier shortstop and one of the most clutch hitters in all of baseball over the last two seasons. His endearing tweets have caught the eye of Major League Baseball, and his selflessness in his recaps has prompted the Yankees to include Didi in the emoji-based fun.

The fans have spoken, and Sir Didi gets the royal treatment with his very own crossed swords coat of arms emoji. It's unusual for the Yankees to not only participate in, but fully embrace such fun antics geared toward the younger generation of fans. But this isn't just a new generation of fans on display, but a new generation of Yankees baseball as well, and Sir Didi is front-and-center. Follow me on Twitter, @JaredSaul
