Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances, Michael Pineda announce spring debuts
A trio of Yankees pitchers have confirmed their spring debuts for the upcoming week, as all-stars Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman and veteran starter Michael Pineda will see their first Grapefruit League action of 2017. Betances is slated to see game action on Wednesday when the Yankees host the Atlanta Braves. Chapman is scheduled to pitch Thursday against the Orioles, and Pineda's first start will come Saturday against Detroit. Following Betances’ simulated game Sunday morning, he confirmed his spring debut date to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. Chapman revealed his debut date to Marly Rivera of ESPN Deportes, and Manager Joe Girardi revealed Pineda’s schedule following the Yankees’ 7-2 win over the Blue Jays, Sunday afternoon.

The Yankees will stay on their current rotation leading up to Pineda's first start on Saturday, according to Girardi. Bryan Mitchell will start Wednesday's game, Adam Warren will go Thursday, and Luis Severino, who started Sunday's win over Toronto, is set to face the Blue Jays again on Friday in Dunedin. The announcement of Pineda's first spring training start leaves CC Sabathia as the lone Yankees starter whose Grapefruit League debut is yet to be announced as he is being eased into action as a precautionary method to keep his surgically repaired knee healthy.
