Yankees acquire OF Eric Young Jr. from Milwaukee
On the heels of the Ben Gamel trade, the Yankees announced that they've acquired minor league outfielder Eric Young Jr. from the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations. Young, 30, has spent the entire season in the minors this year, hitting .263/.338/.339 with three homers, 30 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 116 games. He's a career .247 hitter over parts of seven seasons in the big leagues. Known more for his speed, Young should provide athleticism and outfield depth to the organization. He swiped an NL-leading 46 bases in 2013, and has 144 total for his career while only being caught 35 times. Young will be assigned to the Railriders, and could potentially get called up when rosters expand tomorrow as a pinch-runner off the bench.
