Yankees agree to two-year deal with DJ LeMahieu

Just a few weeks after adding infielder Troy Tulowitzki to the fold, the New York Yankees have decided to add another infielder, a move which could essentially take them out of the Manny Machado sweepstakes. Jack Curry of the YES Network was the first to report the Yankees were close on a two-year deal with DJ LeMahieu.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic later confirmed Curry's report, stating the deal was for two-years and $24 Million pending a physical.

Curry stated the Yankees valued LeMahieu for his defense and versatility. The team plans to play LeMahieu at first, second, and third base. LeMahieu played 128 games with the Colorado Rockies in 2018, hitting .276/.321/.428 with 15 homers and 62 RBI. He also won a batting title in 2016 with the Rockies after logging a .348 average in 146 games.
