Yankees game 39 preview (5/18/16)
Shelby Miller (1-4, 6.94 ERA) will have his broom out and ready to go, it's up to Nathan Eovaldi (3-2, 4.85 ERA) to ruin the party. Eovaldi is coming off a five inning win against the Royals, in which he allowed three runs on eight hits. His average fastball velocity is sitting at 96.9 MPH for 2016, second only to Noah Syndergaard, and he's using it 49.3% of the time. He has faced the Diamondbacks four times in his career, each time being in Arizona. He allowed five hits or less and two runs or less in each of those starts. Miller, much like Greinke, hasn't lived up to the D-Backs expectations with his ERA just under 7. He is improving though, coming off a three run, seven hit outing against the Giants. He went 5.2 innings, but was facing off against Jeff Samardzija so he took the loss. He last faced the Yanks on May 28, 2014 while with the Cardinals. He gave up seven runs on nine hits through five innings taking the L. Tidbits: Arizona has outscored the Yanks 17-5 this series. The Yankees have won their last 141 games when leading through eight innings. Arizona's 152 extra base hits is second in the league behind Boston. 9:40 pm on YES.
