Yankees legend Whitey Ford passes away at 91

Whitey Ford, the 6x World Series champion and 10x All-Star who spent all 16 seasons with the New York Yankees, has passed away at the age of 91.

The Yankees are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Whitey Ford. Whitey spent his entire 16-year career as a Yankee. Ford was one of the best starters in team history, notching 236 wins with a 2.75 ERA. Along with his World Series and All-Star accolades, Ford also won the Cy Young Award in 1961, going 25-4 with a 3.21 ERA in 269.1 innings. Ford took a brief hiatus from his pitching career in 1951 to fight in the Korean War, ultimately returning to the Yankees rotation in 1953. Ford is the fifth legend to pass away in 2020, joining Al Kaline, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, and Lou Brock. He is survived by his wife and two children.
