According to Buster Olney, the Yankees have discussed adding middle infielder Joe Panik, who is a free agent.

Panik is 29 years old and a left-handed batter, which could be a nice addition to the Yankees' right-handed-heavy lineup. Last season, he played 142 games with the Giants and the Mets. In 461 plate appearances, he batted .244/.315/.336 with 5 HRs, 39 RBIs, and a wRC+ of 76. He has played most of his career with the Giants, and won the Gold Glove at second base in 2016.
The Yankees could be attracted to Panik as both an infield depth piece and a lefty bat.
