Yankees Spring Training Game 25: One rough inning enough against Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi allowed four earned runs in today's start against the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins brought some familiar faces to visit the Yankees today.
Through the first two innings, Nathan Eovaldi allowed one base hit but managed to face the minimum. In the third inning, outfielder Darin Mastroianni got on base with two outs on an infield single. Making the most of the inning, outfielder Danny Santana hit a run-scoring double to put the Twins ahead by one.
Former Yankee Phil Hughes faced the Yankees today and handled the Yankees' bats through the first three innings. With one out in the fourth inning, Brett Gardner got a hold of a fastball from Hughes and deposited it over the right field wall for a game-tying, solo home run.
The duel between Eovaldi and Hughes stayed at a 1-1 tie until the sixth inning.
In the sixth inning, Eovaldi issued a leadoff walk. Danny Santana struck again with his second run-scoring double of the game, giving the Twins the lead. Former Yankee Eduardo Nunez reached on an infield single and Brian Dozier brought home Santana on a single of his own. After getting the first out of the game, Byung Ho Park finished off Eovaldi's day with a single. Dellin Betances came in for relief and was the victim of an infield single that he could not handle for another run-scoring infield single. He rebounded by getting the next two outs to end a four-run sixth inning for the Twins.
In 5 1/3 innings, Nathan Eovaldi allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Following the six innings put together by Eovaldi and Betances, Andrew Miller and Chasen Shreve combined for two scoreless innings with Andrew Miller handling 1 1/3 innings. Kirby Yates continues his strong Spring with a scoreless inning of relief today.
Down by four in the ninth inning, the Yankees managed to get one run in the ninth inning with a run-scoring single by Austin Romine but the Yankees ultimately fell short, losing by three to the Twins.
