Scouting Report
Vilorio signed for $1.75 million out of the Dominican Republic, landing the highest bonus in the Yankees' 2024 international class. He offered some of the best raw power on that market but had difficulty getting to it in his pro debut. He batted just .196/.294/.345 with a 33 percent strikeout rate in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. Vilorio already is stronger and hits the ball harder than most 18-year-olds, and there's still room to add more strength to his 6-foot-4 frame. The bat speed he generates with his right-handed swing contributes to projections of plus-plus raw pop once he's fully developed. He has at least 30-homer upside, but he'll have to tone down his chase-heavy approach and make a lot more in-zone contact to succeed at the plate. With solid-to-plus speed and good instincts, Vilorio can steal a few bases and has a chance to remain in center field. He'll probably lose a step as he matures physically, which would dictate a move to the corners. His arm strength grades out as at least plus and easily would work in right field.
