Ivan Nova gives the Yanks a terrific 6 1/3 innings today during their Sunday day game against Toronto. Nova matches his career high by taking the Yanks into the 7th Inning while giving up only 2 earned runs. The first run was a wind tunnel routine flyball by Adam Lind that peppered the Left field Foul Pole netting. Nova has earned a reputation in his young career for beginning the starts very strong and starting to struggle with teams as they get into the second rotation of their lineup. Today was a bit of a different story as nova labored a bit early, but finished his start by going strong into the 7th Inning. Girardi wisely pulled Nova after a one out walk in the 7th, to put the young right hander in a good position to win the game. After Robertson and Boone Logan came into finish out the second, SoMo came into close out the 8 and 9 for the NYY win.
Curtis Granderson blasted his 8th HR of the year, in the 5th inning, giving the Yankees the 3 run lead that they would use to finish off the win.
