Left-handed reliever Juan Cedeno must have felt on top of the world Wednesday night.
An independent league pitcher with an ERA above six as recently as last season, the 28-year old Cedeno was named as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's lone representative to the International League All-Star team. Cedeno has been a pleasant surprise in 29 games this season, appearing virtually unhittable at times. He currently is sporting a 2-0 record with three saves and an unbelievable 1.98 ERA. He also has also struck out 36 batters in 36 innings of work.
Notable snubs from the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate were Ramon Ortiz, who is currently 6-3 with a 2.78 ERA in 14 starts as the staff ace, and Jack Cust, the power-hitting outfielder who currently ranks fifth in the league in home runs (16) and seventh in RBIs (47).
