The Yankees designated outfielder Darnell McDonald for assignment. The move creates roster space for C.C. Sabathia, who starts tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees claimed McDonald off of waivers from the Boston Red Sox 13 days ago. The 33-year-old has a .205/.297/.352 batting line in 103 plate appearances this year.
