The New York Yankees will send right-hander Phil Hughes to the mound tonight in game one of a three-game set against the Washington Nationals. In his last outing vs. the Mets, Hughes lasted 6 1/3 innings, giving up one run (via the long-ball) and struck out six for the win. The right-hander has allowed three runs on ten hits over 15 1/3 frames in his last two starts.

Robinson Cano is not in the lineup tonight. Jayson Nix will man second.

Left-hander Gio Gonzalez (8-2, 2.35 ERA) is on the mound for the Nationals.
